What you mean by headline / back spring ?
Ø Headline is the mooring rope sent ashore from bow. The first headline will be sent through heaving line from the side which is being berthed along side.
Ø Head lines bring the ship along side and keep her secured to the wharf. Four or more headlines needed to be given.
Ø All head lines must be kept on equal tight.
